Hey, Lauri here. As you can see, the Future Rust website has had some significant changes and it’s time to reveal what’s been happening behind the scenes during the last couple of months.
I launched Future Rust originally in 2019. During the last three years the label has released three compilations and four albums of new handpan music. The label has also been actively involved with the creation and organization of International Handpan Day, an annual global holiday that celebrates handpan artform. I’m proud of all these projects, but the truth is, we’re just getting started…
Sometimes after the Handpan Day 2021 my good friend Connor Shafran offered to help with running the label. Me and Connor had been talking about music intensely for months, and since there has always been a lot of resonance between our ideas, we decided to start developing Future Rust together.
In December we started to build the new website, while also figuring out the next steps for the label. We will tell about them in time, but with the relaunch of our new website we want to invite handpan artists to share their vision and music with us. Our goal is to build Future Rust into a community and home for professional artists, who want to leave some fingerprints in the history of handpans. We don’t discriminate between different styles of handpan music, but we are looking for innovation, creativity and dedication to the artform.
